One of Claus' songs, "Sally Ann," is the lead cut on Natalie Merchant's CD, The House Carpenter's Daughter, and it's included in a new collection of Merchant's CD, Retrospective. This song was performed by Merchant and band (inlcuding Judy of Boy with a Fish) on the David Letterman show in August of 2004. Another Claus song, "I Live Where It's Gray," has been used on MTV by Rock the Vote, and Fiery Furnaces have covered a Claus adaptation of "Rub Alcohol Blues" on a recent CD. In addition, some of Claus' film music has been used by Oliver Stone in his film, Any Given Sunday, and Claus was featured in an article in Acoustic Guitar, October, 2000.
